Children and adults all welcome

It's entirely up to you to set your own pace so that you can enjoy the many charms of Kakuetta, a natural site with amenities, considered as one of the wildest, most legendary sites in Europe.
When you go on this walk, you will take paths engineered out of the rock equipped with hand rails, steps and walkways with guard rails, so there's no need to be an experienced walker to make this visit. As it is not guided (so no need to book), you can also organize how you walk (how fast, how often you stop, whether or not you picnic), which all means that age is no obstacle for this excursion.
The level of peacefulness is just right for taking time to relax. Recharge your batteries in this open air geological gallery.

The Kakuetta Gorges are open every day from 15 March - 15 November, from 8.00 to nightfall (last admission times are dictated by the season and/or weather conditions).

Free car parking is laid on.

Tickets are on sale at the bar, "La Cascade". You are free to enjoy your visit for as long as you like within these hours.

The Kakuetta Gorges are a natural, fragile and protected site. Please think of the environment and take any litter away with you. It's a small effort to make for the local Basque ecosystem!!!

Tips for getting the most out of your tour of the Kakuetta Gorges

Water trickles generously everywhere and tends to makes the ground slippery. When you are properly equipped in the mountains, you can appreciate nature better :
  • Wear hiking boots or stout shoes with good outsole treads
  • Pushchair access is impossible, so bring along a baby carrier
  • The Kakuetta Gorges are cool, even in summer, so keep a sweater handy in your backpack
  • Bring along a picnic if you arrive early enough and you are thinking of staying for a few hours. Whatever happens, always pack a bottle of water so that you have something to drink. Please look after the environment and take any litter away with you.
  • Hard hats are available for the public at the entrance to the site.
  • Dogs are admitted, but must be kept on a lead at all times.
  • Please respect the fauna and flora of the gorges by not picking any flowers or plants. Bathing and fishing are prohibited.
  • You can have a bar snack or drink in "La Cascade", and also find out more about the history of these gorges and the legends surrounding them.
We are sorry, but this tourist site is inaccessible to the wheelchair-bound.
